INDIANAPOLIS – Cleveland State freshman Tess Sito has been named the Horizon League Softball Batter of the Week, while Butler freshman Jenny Esparza has earned Pitcher of the Week honors for the week ending Feb. 21.

Sito made her Viking debut last week, hitting .556 (10 for 18) with a team-high six runs, two doubles, four homers and 10 RBI.  She slugged 1.333 and tallied an on-base percentage of .600.  The Elyria, Ohio, native also stole three bases in four attempts.

Esparza made three appearances last week on Butler’s trip to Clarksville, Tenn., and the Austin Peay Classic.  The Avon, Ind., native posted one win and one save through 16 innings while striking out 25 batters.  In her Bulldog debut against Tennessee State, the newcomer tossed a complete game, allowing just two hits.

Sito and Esparza both garner their first career weekly accolades.
