No. 3 Cleveland State held off No. 6 Butler and captured a 2-1 victory in the first round of the Horizon League tournament at a blustery cold Ashwaubenon Sports Complex in Green Bay, Wis.

The Vikings came out of the gates early as they scored two runs in the bottom of the first on a Michele Penney two RBI double to left field. The Bulldogs closed the score to 2-1 in the top of the fifth on an Ashley Barry RBI double.

Cleveland State pitcher Grace Luginbuhl (14-12) held off the Bulldogs the rest of the way as she captured the victory after giving up only three hits and fanning 10 batters.
