No. 3 Cleveland State defeated host No. 2 UW-Green Bay, 2-1, in the second round of the winner's bracket on Thursday at the Ashwaubenon Sports Complex in Green Bay, Wis.
The Vikings jumped out to an early lead in the top of the second inning thanks to a Whitney Willard RBI single and a pair of unearned runs that pushed their lead to 3-0. The Phoenix attempted to rally as they closed to score to 3-1 by the end of the sixth, but Grace Luginbuhl halted any chance of a Phoenix comeback to pick up her second tournament win on the day.
Luginbuhl (15-12) gave up six hits and struck out six in the complete game performance.
