Green Bay 52, Cleveland State 49
Green Bay overcame a 10-point halftime deficit to defeat Cleveland State on Thursday night at the Wolstein Center in Cleveland to remain undefeated in conference play.

Green Bay scored the final four points of the game, holding Cleveland State scoreless over the final 3:24 of the game. After an Imani Gordon layup gave Cleveland State a 49-48 lead, the Phoenix tied the game on a Sarah Eichler free throw with 2:24 left. Eichler hit the game-winner, banking in a three-pointer from the top of the key, with 1:35 remaining. Cleveland State got three three-point attempts off in the final 95 seconds, but could not connect on any of them.

The Phoenix were down 24-14 at the break and still trailed by eight points, 39-31, with 10 minutes remaining in the game. Senior guard Adrian Ritchie sparked a Phoenix run as she converted two straight lay ups and then fellow senior Sarah Eichler hit a runner and a three-pointer to give Green Bay its first lead since it was 4-3 in the early going.

Cori Coleman connected on a three-pointer to put the Vikings back in the lead, but Green Bay would answer as Stephanie Sension would score consecutive baskets down low to give the Phoenix a 44-42 lead with 5:43 remaining.  CSU would retake the lead on another three-pointer, this one by Shalonda Winton, but Eichler would answer on the next possession to give GB the lead.

The back-and-forth continued as CSU regained the lead on an Honesty King second chance bucket. The Phoenix would retake the lead on two Megan Lukan free throws and CSU answered with the Gordon layup to take their final lead of the game.

Eichler scored 11 of her team-high 17 points in the second half. Sension finished with 16 points and Ritchie had 13 points and five steals for the Phoenix. GB only turned the ball over 13 times in the game and forced 26 Viking turnovers.

Winton led three Vikings in double figures with 13 points. Coleman finished with 12 and King had 10. Cleveland State ended the game with a 43-25 advantage over Green Bay in rebounding.

After spotting Green Bay a 4-0 lead, Cleveland State went on a 15-2 run to take control of the first half. The Phoenix went on another 4-0 spurt to cut the lead to five at 15-10, but the Vikings ended the half on a 9-4 streak to take a 24-14 lead into the locker room.

Green Bay forced 15 Cleveland State turnovers in the first half, but were unable to capitalize as they scored only six points off the 15 turnovers. Cleveland State held Green Bay to just 26.1% shooting in the first half and also outrebounded the Phoenix, 23-11.

Youngstown State 67, Milwaukee 50
Youngstown State used a 24-7 run in the second half to break open a close game as the Penguins defeated Milwaukee, 67-50, at the Beeghly Center on Thursday night.

The Penguins led 32-26 early in the second half when they would make four consecutive shots to take a 41-28 lead with 16:07 left in the game. Milwaukee would never get within single digits again as YSU ultimately took a 56-33 lead on a Monica Touvelle layup with 9:31 remaining.

Touvelle finished the game with a career-high 23 points. She was 8-of-11 from the field, including 5-of-8 from three-point range. Brandi Brown joined Touvelle in double figures with 18 points, while Shar’Rae Davis (10) and Karen Flagg (10) also reached double digits.

For the game, the Penguins shot 49.1% from the field. The Penguins shot 63.6% from two-point range as they outscored UWM 38-16 in the paint. YSU’s defense also forced Milwaukee into 27 turnovers.

Milwaukee was led by Emily Decorah who finished with team-highs in points (14) and rebounds (5). She was the only Panther to reach double figures.

Senior forward Sami Tucker finished with seven points and recorded the 1,000th point of her career on a free throw late in the second half.

In the first half, Youngstown State led by two, 17-15, with 7:09 remaining when they went on a 10-0 run to take their first double-digit lead of the game. Touvelle scored eight of the Penguins 10 points during the run as she connected on two free throws and back-to-back three pointers. Touvelle would finish the first half with 16 points as YSU entered the break with a 32-24 lead.
