George, McClellan Pick Up Horizon League Women's Swimming Awards for Milwaukee

INDIANAPOLIS – Opening their season last Friday, the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee swept the Horizon League Swimming and Diving Player of the Week awards.  Panther freshman Emily McClellan (Delavan, Wis) earned swimmer of the week, while senior Kelsey George (Middleton, Wis.) was the diver of the week.

In the diving well, George was runner-up on the both the 1-meter and 3-meter disciplines.  On the short board, George was a scant three points shy of the top spot, scoring 257.33 in a second-place effort.  The senior took another close second on the 3-meter board, finishing with a mark of 259.13.

McClellan was impressive in her first collegiate contest, taking second in the 100 breast, touching the wall in 1:05.10.

The Panthers will be back in action this weekend, traveling to Grand Valley State on Friday, Oct. 15, before meeting Valparaiso in a Horizon League clash on Saturday, Oct. 16 at 4 p.m. ET.
