Horizon League Golfers of the Week
Award 4 -- Oct. 22
Men's Golf -- Armando Favela (Loyola)
Women's Golf -- Katie Tabbert (Green Bay)

INDIANAPOLIS -- Loyola University Chicago senior Armando Favela and University of Wisconsin-Green Bay freshman Katie Tabbert have been named Horizon League Golfers of the Week for the period of Oct. 8-21.

Favela, a native of Tijuana, Mexico, posted a 68 to win Loyola's dual match against Green Bay on Oct. 11. He then carded a 66-68-74=208 to capture medalist honors at the six-team IPFW Fall Classic in Fort Wayne, Ind.

The Ramblers defeated the Phoenix, 298-303, in the 18-hole head-to-head competition. LU then turned in a 284-273-299=856 to cruise past Green Bay, Butler, IPFW, North Dakota State and Youngstown State in its final tournament of the 2008 fall campaign.

Favela's first-round 66 ties for the best single round in the Horizon League this season.

Tabbert, a native of Onalaska, Wis., recorded a 79-73=152 to capture medalist honors at the four-team Green Bay Fall Classic. It was her second tournament title of the fall.

The Phoenix posted a 354-338=692 to finish fourth behind Western Illinois, Chicago State and Loyola.

Tabbert, who was also honored by the Horizon League office on Sept. 25, becomes the conference's first two-time Golfer of the Week this fall.
