Horizon League Athletes of the Week

Jake Scott, Cleveland State
Sophomore * Strongsville, Ohio

Scott claimed his first career tournament title, posting back-to-back rounds of even par 72 to defeat Oakland's Frank McAuliffe by two strokes at the Butler Spring Invitational. Scott, whose previous best finish had been a tie for third, led the Vikings to their first tournament title of the year.

Katie Broere, Cleveland State
Freshman * Bracebridge, Ontario

Broere posted Cleveland State's best finish of the spring, carding back-to-back career-low rounds of 80 to finish in a tie for fifth at the Butler Spring Invitational. She also ranked third in the tournament with three birdies.

Mulvihill finished in a tie for ninth at the Butler Spring Invitational with a 36-hole total of six-over-par 150.  He opened the tournament with a 76 and then shot a team-best 74 in the final round.

Garrett Gosh

UW-Green Bay

So. * Hartland, Wis.

Gosh was the top Phoenix finisher at the Butler Spring Invitational after posting rounds of 75 and 72 to end up three shots over par.  He finished in a three-way tie for third place.

Lucy McGovern

Fr. * Escondido, Calif.

McGovern recorded her sixth top-five finish of the season by tying for fifth place at the Butler Spring Invitational last week. The freshman posted rounds of 78 and 82 to finish four shots off the pace. Her opening-round 78 was the second-lowest score of the day on March 19 at Prestwick Country Club.

Lauren Showers

Lauren Showers paced the Bulldogs at the Butler Spring Invitational with a 36-hole total of 160.  She shot an opening-round 83 and then posted the best Butler round with a 77 for the final 18.  She finished in a three-way tie for fifth place.
