Men's Player of the Week

Ross Beal, Youngstown State
Uniontown, Ohio * Senior
Beal had two top-five finishes the past two weeks, including a school-record performance at the IPFW Fall Classic. He carded a school-record 63 during the final round of the IPFW Classic and finished with a school-record three-round score of 196 to win by nine shots. It was the first individual victory for the Penguins since Nate Komsa won the Horizon League Championship in 2004.

Women's Player of the Week

Lauren Oh, Loyola
Pleasanton, Calif. * Freshman
Oh led Loyola and tied for second overall at the Huskie Classic by posting a 36-hole score of 154 (77-77), just four strokes behind medalist Nichole Swan of Oakland. The rookie was consistent, shooting a five-over-par each day to help the Ramblers to a third-place showing at the six-team event.

Men's

Jake Scott, Cleveland State
Strongsville, Ohio * Junior
Scott tied for sixth place at the IPFW Fall Classic contested Oct. 8-9 at Deer Track G.C. in Fort Wayne, Ind. He opened the tournament with a career-low round of 67, which was the third lowest round in school-history, before following that with rounds of 69 and 72.

David Byrne, Detroit
Essex, Ontario * Senior
Byrne was Detroit's top finisher in each of the last two tournaments, leading UDM to a pair of team championships. At DePaul, he claimed second place individually with a 76-71-71-218 (+2) card, one shot off of medalist. He came back to take third place at IPFW, where he was the defending champion. Byrne shot rounds of 66 (one shy of his personal best), 68 and 72 for a 7-under total of 206.

Thomas Greene, Loyola
Roselle, Ill. * Sophomore
Greene owned a 72.7 average in six rounds for Loyola and finished second overall with a 205 (70-63-72) at the IPFW Fall Classic, Oct. 8-9, after placing tied for 38th with a 231 (85-71-75) at the John Dallio Memorial, Oct. 1-2. Greene matched a Loyola 54-hole record with a 205 at IPFW and set a Loyola and Deer Track Golf Course mark with an eight-under 63 in round two.

Travis Meyer, Green Bay
River Falls, Wis. * Senior
Meyer finished in a fourth-place tie at the Butler Fall Invitational Oct. 1-2 as Green Bay won the six-team event. Meyer then was Green Bay's top golfer Oct. 8-9 at the IPFW Fall Classic.

Tyler Miskell, Wright State
Heath, Ohio * Senior
Miskell posted his third top-twenty finish of the season this past weekend at the Xavier Invitational, posting a three-round score of 213. Miskell shot the Raiders first under-par tournament score for the season on his way to a 20th-place finish. The senior posted a low round of 67 (-5) and shot a 71 (-1) to become the first Raider to shoot multiple rounds under par this year.

Women's

Lauren Showers, Butler
Kokomo, Ind. * Junior
Showers set a Butler single-round record with a two-under-par 69 in the opening round of the Butler Fall Invitational. She shot a 78 in the second round and finished in a three-way tie for first with a two-day score of 147. The Butler junior lost the playoff for medalist honors to Angela Gauck of Marian. Showers did not play at the Lady Indian Classic due to class commitments.

Ashley Hamilton, Detroit
Lake Orion, Mich. * Senior
Hamilton was Detroit's top finisher at the Titans' Fall Invitational, sharing sixth place with rounds of 83 and 79. She was one of just three golfers to break 80 over the Western Golf & Country Club layout in the final round.

Katie Rogner, Youngstown State
Warren, Ohio * Freshman
Rogner continued her streak of team-best finishes leading the Guins in the past two tournaments. She had her third top five finish of the fall this week at the Detroit Titans Invitational.

Horizon League News & Notes

Butler Bulldogs

Men's
- Junior Kevin Sasena became the first Butler golfer this season to record three sub-par rounds in a tournament, posting a score of five-under-par 208 at the IPFW Fall Classic as the Bulldogs placed sixth in the event.

- Butler placed third in the six-team Butler Fall Invitational, held last week. Sophomore Kyle Thomas led the team with a score of two-over-par 215.

Women's
- Butler placed 11th at the 17-team Lady Indian Classic, hosted by Arkansas State this week after winning the Butler Fall Invitational last week.

- The Bulldogs shot a season-best 296 in the opening round of their own fall tournament and then finished with a 306 to capture the five-team tournament. Junior Lauren Showers set a school single-round record with a two-under-par 69 in the opening round of the Butler Fall Invitational.

Cleveland State Vikings

Men's
- The Vikings opened play at the IPFW Fall Classic by shooting two rounds of 277 on Monday. It was the lowest team total in school history.

- Junior Jake Scott's opening round 67 at the IPFW Fall Classic was a career-low score and the third-lowest score in program history. Four other CSU golfers who competed at the event posted a career-low round.

Women's
- Cleveland State shot a final round of 361 and finished fifth of six teams at the Detroit Invitational earlier this week.

- Sophomore Laren Beese was CSU's top finisher as she tied for 23rd at 175 (85-90).

Detroit Titans

Men's
- The Titans won back-to-back tournaments over the last two weeks, coming from seven strokes down on the final day to win DePaul's John Dallio Memorial by 10 shots, then leading wire-to-wire to claim IPFW's Fall Classic by a three-stroke margin.

- The Titans set school records for 18-hole scores (14-under 270) and 54-holes (20-under-832) at IPFW. Three Titans shot under par over the course of three rounds at IPFW including Mark Sommerfeld, whose opening-round 65 tied the Titans' single-round record.

Women's
- Detroit hosted its second-annual tournament and finished fourth, trailing Oakland, Youngstown State and Dayton.

- Two Titans - All-League seniors Ashley Hamilton and Mandi Dupuis - cracked the Top 10.

Loyola Ramblers

Men's
- After placing second at the Cleveland State Invitational a week earlier, Loyola captured third place in the 13-team field at the John Dallio Memorial hosted by DePaul inLemont, Ill.

- Sophomore Thomas Greene set a course and school record with an eight-under-par 63 in round two. The previous Loyola record was 65, set by Sean Bidzinski at this same meet in 2005, and set in round one by senior Armando Favela earlier in the day.

Women's
- Loyola had three players finish among the top six at the Huskie Classic in Huntley, Ill. Freshman Lauren Oh tied for second overall, her second straight top-five finish, shooting a 154 (77-77).

- Junior Kaitlin Kearney fired a 77 in round two, her lowest mark of the fall, to finish with a 155 and tie for fourth place, while sophomore Lucy McGovern carded a 156 (77-79) at the Huskie Classic.

Green Bay Phoenix

Men's
- The Green Bay men's golf team put the field away in Tuesday's final round of the Butler Fall Invitational to take the tournament title of the six-team event. Sophomore Brady Mork Carded a one-under 70 on Tuesday to place second overall with an even-par 213, finishing five strokes back of tournament medalist Justin Hueber of Indianapolis.

- Green Bay struggled through the final round of the IPFW Fall Classic Tuesday, as the Phoenix fell to ninth place with a 14-over 298. Senior Travis Meyer held on to his 13th-place finish with a one-over 73 to finish with a three-round total of 212 (one-shot under).

Women's
- Green Bay posted its two best scores of the program's brief history at the Titan Invitational in Detroit. The Phoenix followed Monday's then-best score of 380 with a 373 on Tuesday.

- Green Bay, playing in just its third event ever, placed sixth with a 36-hole sum of 753.

Wright State Raiders

Men's
- The Raiders finished 20th at the Xavier Invitational last week, shooting a three-round total of 902.

- Senior Tyler Miskell was the top finisher for the Raiders as he tied for 20th. He posted a low round of 67 (-5) and also shot a 71 (-1) to become the first Raider to shoot multiple rounds under par this year.

Youngstown State Penguins

Men's
- The Penguins finished second at the IPFW Fall Classic earlier this week with a three-round 835 (274-280-281), coming up just three shots behind Detroit's 835. YSU also finished eighth at the 13-team John Dallio Memorial Tournament hosted by DePaul last week.

- Senior Ross Beal paced the Penguins at both events last week, finishing fourth at the John Dallio with a three-over 219 and capturing medalist honors at the IPFW Fall Classic with a school-record, 17-under 196. His final-round 63 also set a school record and tied a tournament standard.

Women's
- Youngstown State placed third at the six-team Detroit Fall Classic, which concluded on Tuesday. Freshman Katie Rogner led the way for the fourth-consecutive tournament with a 161 in the two-round event. She tied for fourth overall in the competition.

- Placing ninth was sophomore Brittany Stillwagon who shot a two-round 166 (82-84), while junior Mollie Boney tied with teammate Felicia Ciotola (senior) for 10th place at 167.
