Men's Athlete of the Week
Steve Weir, Sr.,
Weir finished second in the Belmont Intercollegiate this week, falling on the first playoff hole. Weir led the tournament after 36 holes thanks to a school-record 63 on Monday. The score, which was three strokes better than the previous record, also tied the tournament record and was one shot off the course record at Old Natchez Country Club.
Women's Athlete of the Week
Lynnsey Showers, Jr.,
Showers captured medalist honors at the UC/UD Women's Collegiate Invitational this week. She was the only player in a field of 37 to break 80 in the opening round when she posted a 75. Showers then shot a 79 in the final round to become the only player in the tournament to break 80 twice.
