INDIANAPOLIS -- Wright State senior Garrett Gray and Milwaukee senior Jeff Gordon have been named Horizon League Baseball Players of the Week for the period of April 26-May 2.
For the week, Gray hit .458 (11-for-24) and slugged 1.083, racking up four homers, three doubles and one triple. He guided his WSU team to a 4-1 mark on the week, including a three-game series sweep over Youngstown State. The Lewisburg, Ohio, native, hit safely in all five games extending his hit streak to 23 straight contests. Gray also recorded 10 RBI, eight runs while his Raider squad improved to 12-4 in league play, 23-17 overall.
Gordon nearly threw seven scoreless innings in the Panthers 3-0 victory over Valparaiso on Saturday. The right hander allowed a mere four hits while striking out three batters in 6.2 innings. In addition, the Santa Clara, Calif., native, stranded nine total base runners due to clutch pitching in key situations. UWM currently sits second in the conference standings.
