Green Bay Dominates Paint, Clutches Up to Beat Cleveland State-- Box Score
CLEVELAND, Ohio (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – Dominating the game in the paint and converting on clutch free throws with under a minute to play, the Green Bay women’s basketball team was able to hang on and defeat Cleveland State 65-61 on Thursday night at the Wolstein Center.
Green Bay (14-3, 4-0 HL) found a way to fend off nine made three-pointers by the Vikings (10-7, 2-2 HL) and a 20-point effort by Imani Gordon. The Phoenix saw four players record double figures for the second time in three games, led by Mehryn Kraker’s team-high 14 points.
While the team effort proved to be a key component in the victory, the damage Green Bay did in the paint was ultimately the deciding factor. The Phoenix outscored CSU 40-20 in the paint, with 14 of those 20 CSU points coming in the second half. Read more
Vikings Battle But Come Up Short Against Green Bay-- Box Score
CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State women's basketball team dropped a hard fought contest Thursday evening, falling to league-leading Green Bay, 65-61. The loss was just the second at home for the Vikings this season, as CSU is now 10-7 overall and 2-2 in Horizon League play. Green Bay improves to 14-3 and 4-0 in league action.
Once again the Viking offense was led by the senior trio of Imani Gordon, Cori Coleman, and Kiersten Green – who combined for 49 of Cleveland State's 61 points. Gordon tallied a team-high 20 points – including 16 during the second half – while Coleman added 16 points and Green notched 13.
Throughout the entire contest the Vikings were able to keep the Phoenix within a manageable distance, and went into the halftime break trailing by seven at 34-27. Read more
Titans Claw Past Golden Grizzlies, 73-62, In #MetroSeries Match-Up-- Box Score
DETROIT (1/22/2015) -- It was hunting season inside Calihan Hall and the Titans went looking for some bears as the University of Detroit Mercy women's basketball team surged past the Oakland Golden Grizzles, 73-62, on Thursday in a Metro Series battle.
Redshirt sophomore Rosanna Reynolds had a game-high 27 points and 11 rebounds to go with five assists and no turnovers. Senior Ellisha Crosby netted 14 points with six boards. Sophomore Haleigh Ristovski had 11 points, seven rebounds and two assists and freshman Darianne Seward finished with 13 points and six caroms.
Detroit (7-11, 2-3 HL) erased a 10-point second-half Oakland (8-9, 2-2 HL) lead with a 12-0 run and never looked back, opening as much as a 10-point lead of its own. Read more
Oakland Upended at UDM, 73-62-- Box Score
DETROIT - Sinclair Russell scored a career-best and team-high 16 points and Elena Popkey added 15 as Oakland women's basketball (8-9, 2-2 HL) fell at the University of Detroit Mercy (7-11, 2-3 HL), 73-62, as part of the Metro Series Thursday night at Calihan Hall.
Russell set a career-high in points for the second-straight week, tallying 12 in the first half. Popkey's 15 points marks her 50th career double-digit scoring effort and 11th of the season.
The Golden Grizzlies held a 32-27 advantage at half led by a 11-3 run to begin the game as Russell started a perfect 4-for-4 from the floor including hitting a triple. Oakland shot 41 percent in the period and outscored UDM 12-2 in points off turnovers. Read more
Benjamin's Career-High Leads Penguins Past Wright State, 75-70-- Box Score
Youngstown, Ohio – Freshman Indiya Benjamin scored a career-high 22 points and senior Heidi Schlegel posted her seventh double-double of the season with 19 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Youngstown State women's basketball team to a 75-70 win over Wright State on Thursday evening at the Beeghly Center.
Freshman Nikki Arbanas scored 12 points, including 10 in the second half, and freshman Sarah Cash scored nine points with five blocks to aide the Penguins, who improve to 14-3 overall and 3-1 in the Horizon League.
Wright State, who falls to 14-5 overall and 3-2 in the Horizon League, was led by Tay'ler Mingo with 30 points and Courtney Boyd with 13 points. Read more

YSU jumped out to a quick 8-2 lead before the Raiders took the lead for the first time with seven straight points, five of those coming from Courtney Boyd. Seven points from JJ Williams in a two-minute span put WSU up 25-19 and the margin seesawed between six and eight before a Kelsea Newman three drew YSU to within three at half at 29-26. Read more
