INDIANAPOLIS – The regular season Horizon League champions, Green Bay will host Belmont in the first round of the National Invitational Tournament (NIT) on Tuesday, March 18. The Phoenix were given the No. 4 seed in the St. John's quadrant.
The game will be on ESPN3 at 8:15 p.m. ET.
The Phoenix, winners of the Horizon League regular season with a 14-2 conference mark, are in the NIT for the first time as a Horizon League member.
Green Bay is led by its two First Team All-League players, Keifer Sykes and Alec Brown. Sykes earned Horizon League Player of the Year accolades after averaging 20.3 points per game and 4.9 assists per game.
Brown added to his legacy at Green Bay by averaging 15.6 ppg and 3.2 blocks per contest. Brown’s 93 blocks are the program record for a season, while his 308 career blocks are one shy from matching the Horizon League’s all-time record.
Should the Phoenix win, it will face the victor of the St. John's-Robert Morris game.
