The 10th-ranked Green Bay Phoenix learned Monday night they were a seven-seed and would be playing 10-seed Iowa State in the first round of the 2012 NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament.

Green Bay’s game vs. Iowa State will be played in Ames, Iowa, on Saturday with tipoff scheduled for 6:30 p.m. ET.

Green Bay finished the regular season with a 30-1 record and were the regular season and tournament champion of the Horizon League. The Phoenix, currently ranked 10th in both the coaches and media poll, opened the season ranked 24th in the coaches poll, the first time in school history it began the year ranked in either poll. During the season, Green Bay was ranked as high as ninth in both polls.

This marks Green Bay’s fourth consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance and their 13th overall.

Last season, the Phoenix advanced to the program’s first Sweet 16. Green Bay was a No. 5 seed and opened up the tournament with a 59-55 win over 12th-seed Arkansas-Little Rock. In the second round, the Phoenix dispatched fourth-seed Michigan State, 65-56, to advance to the second week of play. In the Sweet 16, top-seed Baylor ended Green Bay’s run with an 86-76 win.

Detroit to face Toledo in WNIT
The regular season and tournament runner-up in the Horizon League, Detroit, received a bid into the WNIT.It is the first WNIT appearance in Titan history and just the second postseason tournament the program has played in.The Titans will face defending WNIT champion Toledo (21-9) in the first round on Friday. The game will be played on Toledo's home court.

Horizon League teams went 3-1 against Toledo in regular season contests this past season. Green Bay defeated the Rockets twice and Milwaukee also took down Toledo. The Rockets only victory over a Horizon League opponent was a home win over Cleveland State.

The Titans posted a 20-13 record on the season, their first 20-win campaign since going 23-7 in 1997 – which is the last year Detroit played in a postseason with its only NCAA Tournament appearance.

Wright State in WBI for Second Consecutive Year, will open at SIU-Edwardsville
Wright State received an invite into the Women's Basketball Invitational and will make its second consecutive appearance in the tournament.

The Raiders, the No. 5 seed in the West Region, will open play on Thursday evening at 8 p.m. in a first round game at SIU-Edwardsville. The winner advances to a WBI quarterfinal matchup against No. 1 seed Seattle or No. 8 seed North Dakota on a date and site to be announced.

Last season in the WBI, Wright State went 1-1, defeating Buffalo in the first round before falling to Manhattan in the second round.

Wright State (20-12) has now had back-to-back 20 win seasons for the first time in school history.
