GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – After a four week absence from the Associated Press Top 25 Poll, the Green Bay (15-1, 4-0 HL) women’s basketball team has rejoined the ranks at No. 23.

“Every day we’re just focusing on getting better,” said head coach Matt Bollant. “I’m thankful we’re getting national recognition but we need to stay focused on our next opponent.”

On Dec. 6, 2010 Green Bay entered the AP Poll the earliest time in program history with its No. 23 ranking. After Green Bay’s 63-60 loss at Marquette Dec. 12, the Phoenix fell out of the poll but consistently received votes.

Shooting 80 percent from the free-throw line, Green Bay is ranked first in the country in free-throw percentage after moving up from third last week behind first place in-state rival Milwaukee. In addition, the Phoenix is ranked third in turnover margin (+9).

For the seventh consecutive season Green Bay is off to a 4-0 start in Horizon League play. The Phoenix will tip off a three-game stretch at home on Wednesday, Jan. 12 as it hosts Loyola (8-6, 2-1 HL) at 7 p.m. at the Kress Events Center. Saturday, Jan. 15 the Phoenix will host UIC (7-7, 2-1 HL) at 2 p.m. before welcoming Milwaukee (4-11, 1-3 HL) to the Kress Jan. 22 at 2 p.m.
