INDIANAPOLIS – Green Bay senior midfielder JC Banks (Milwaukee, Wis.) has been named Horizon League Men’s Soccer Player of the Week, for the week beginning Sept. 27.
Banks helped the Phoenix salvage a split of their weekend, posting a hat trick in Sunday’s 4-0 win over Detroit. The three-goal outburst came in just under 11 minutes of play. With five minutes to play in a scoreless first half on Sunday, Banks knocked home his first goal of the match, rebounding a shot to tally his fourth goal of the year. Just 1:15 into the second half, Banks picked off a pass and beat the keeper to put Green Bay ahead, 2-0.
Banks completed the trifecta five minutes later, converting a penalty kick. The hat trick was the first of Banks’s career and the third in the Horizon League in 2010.
The effort put Banks on the CollegeSoccerNews.com’s National Team of the Week; the senior is one of two Horizon League players on the team for the week, joining Butler’s Connor Burt.
With 17 points, 6 goals and 5 assists, Banks leads the Horizon League in all offensive categories.
