Men's Soccer Player of the Week
JC Banks
Senior, Midfielder
Milwaukee, Wis.

INDIANAPOLIS – Green Bay senior midfielder JC Banks (Milwaukee, Wis.) has been named Horizon League Men’s Soccer Player of the Week, for the week beginning Oct. 18.

Banks had two goals on the week as Green Bay extended their winning streak to five matches, recording a 4-3 overtime win at Wisconsin and defeating Valparaiso, 1-0.

In a back-and-forth affair at Wisconsin, Banks tallied the game-winner in the 96th minute, beating the goalkeeper one-on-one to pot his ninth goal of the season, giving the Phoenix a win over the Badgers for the second straight season.

Returning to Horizon League play on Saturday, Banks found the back of the net in the 69th minute, lifting Green Bay to the victory over Valpo.  Banks was at the top right corner of the box when he turned towards the net, shot between two defenders and laid the ball in the lower left corner for the goal.

Over Green Bay’s five-match winning streak, Banks has seven goals.  The Milwaukee, Wis.-native leads the Horizon League with 10 goals, while his 25 points pace the conference.

With two Horizon League matches remaining, Green Bay sits in a tie for second with a 4-2-0 record; the five-match winning streak is the Phoenix’s best since the 2006 season.

The award is the second of the season for Banks, who was honored for his play during the week of Sept. 27.

The Phoenix play two matches this week, beginning with a non-conference clash in Macomb, Ill., against Western Illinois on Tuesday, Oct. 26 at 8 p.m. ET.  Green Bay resumes Horizon League play on Saturday, Oct. 30, when they host Loyola at 8 p.m. ET.
