Green Bay's Boockmeier, Cleveland State's Cronin Earn Golfer of the Week Honors

INDIANAPOLIS -- Green Bay junior Tom Boockmeier (Green Bay, Wis.) has been named Horizon League Men’s Golfer of the Week while Cleveland State senior Micaela Cronin (Dayton, Ohio) has been named Horizon League Women’s Golfer of the Week.

Boockmeier is off to a fast start for Green Bay, winning the Green Bay Invitational last week and the John Piper Intercollegiate this week. After opening with a 75 on Monday, Boockmeier closed with rounds of 68-70 on the par-72 layout to best a field of 43 golfers. This is Boockmeier’s first Horizon League Golfer of the Week honor.

Cronin finished as the runner-up by one shot at the Chicago State Cougar Classic on Tuesday, shooting rounds of 74-72 (146, +2). Her 36-hole total shattered the school record by six shots and her final round 72 tied the school record for lowest 18-hole round. This is the first time Cronin has been named the Horizon League Golfer of the Week.

Green Bay is back in action Sept. 23-24 at the Chicago State Cougar Classic while Cleveland State hosts the Cleveland State Invitational at Pine Hills Golf Club on Sept. 24-25.

Top Golfers for the Week:
Evan Bowser, Oakland (So., Dearborn, Mich.) - Shot 77-72-69 (218, +5) at the Wolverine Intercollegiate to finish T22. This is the fifth straight top-25 for Bowser dating back to last year. 
D.J. Holub, Youngstown State (So., LaGrange, Ohio) - Fired a first-round 64 (-8) at the John Piper Intercollegiate. Closed with rounds of 76-75 (213, -1) to finish in third place.  
Brendan Leonard, Detroit (Sr., Cambridge, Ont.) - Shot rounds of 70-79-71 (220, +7) at the Wolverine Intercollegiate, good for a T28 finish.
Nick Seitz, Valparaiso (Fr., Xenia, Ohio) - Finished T5 at the John Piper Intercollegiate, shooting rounds of 71-72-73 (216, E). 
Julia Montgomery, Oakland (Fr., Utica, Mich.) - Posted rounds of 77-84-79 (239, +23) at the Mary Fossum Invitational.
Christina Thorne, Detroit (Sr., Kingston, Ont.) - Had five birdies en route to a T3 finish at the Chicago State Cougar Classic. Finished at +3 (74-73=147) for the tournament.
