INDIANAPOLIS -- Green Bay’s Lauren Mauel (Green Bay, Wis.) and Detroit’s Colin Creagh (Chesterfield Township, MI) have been named Horizon League Runners of the Week, for the week beginning Sept. 5.

Mauel, a junior at UW-Green Bay, finished the 5K race with a time of 18:51.8 to place third out of 89 runners. The team finished in third place out of 13 teams at the meet. It is the second consecutive week that Mauel finished third in a race and she was the first Horizon League runner to complete the course at the Midwest Open.

Creagh earns his first Runner of the Week accolade after he ran the four-mile Titan Invite course in 21:17. He finished in second place out of 71 runners and was just two seconds out of first place. It is the second straight week the freshman has posted a top-five finish after placing fifth at last week’s Golden Grizzly Open (19:46).

Green Bay will be back in action this weekend at the Concordia Falcon Invite in Mequon, Wis. at 11 a.m. and Detroit will head to Notre Dame on Friday for the National Catholic Championships.

Other Top Performers for the Week:

Kirstin Mooney, Detroit (Sr.) - The senior had a fifth place individual finish at the Titan Invite. It is the second weekend in a row that she has finished in the top-5. Mooney completed the 5K race in 20:07 to help her team to a second-place team finish.

Jake Reilly, Milwaukee (Jr.) - Reilly competed in the Midwest Collegiate Invitational over the weekend and finished the 8K race with a time of 25:55.8 to take first place out of 140 runners.

Jason Bruns, Wright State (Jr.) - The junior completed the Queen City Invitational meet with a time of 19:25. He came in 20th place out of 135 runners in the 5K race to help his team to a 6th place team finish.

Samantha Hamilton, Youngstown State (Jr.) - Hamilton finished the 5K Tommy Evans Invitational in 18:40 to place 1st out of 44 runners. In the process, she because the first women’s cross country runner in school history to win twice in a season. She also won the event by 12 seconds and was 40 seconds ahead of third place.
