Green Bay's Tenzer and Detroit's Lammers Collect Scholar-Athlete of the Month Honors

INDIANAPOLIS – Green Bay junior Michael Tenzer and Detroit senior Lindsey Lammers have been named the Horizon League’s Scholar-Athletes of the Month for April.

Tenzer holds a 3.739 grade point average as a business administration major at Green Bay. The junior helped the Phoenix athletic department earn its 28th consecutive semester above a 3.0 GPA while the Green Bay men’s tennis team was top-ranked among all Phoenix squads posting a 3.63 team GPA.

The Phoenix went a perfect 8-0 in April collecting Horizon League regular season and Championship titles as well as a berth to the NCAA Tournament. Tenzer led the squad posting unblemished No. 1 singles (8-0) and No. 1 doubles (6-0) records throughout the month. During this time, he garnered his fourth-career Horizon League Player of the Week accolade and second-straight Horizon League Player of the Year distinction. In addition, Tenzer was named to the All-League First Team for the third-straight season.

Lammers graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Detroit Mercy with a 3.877 GPA as a business major. She was a four-year member of the Detroit Athletic Director’s Honor Roll and a multi-year member of the Horizon League Fall and Spring Academic Honor Rolls. Lammers was named to the Horizon League All-Academic Team two times and was also a two-time selection as an All-American Scholar by the Women’s Golf Coaches Association.

During the month of April, Lammers finished in the top six in all three contests she participated in. The senior tied for third at the IPFW Spring Invitational and took a share of sixth-place at the BGSU Falcon Invitational. For the second-straight season, Lammers led Detroit to a Horizon League Championship title while collecting her second Horizon League Individual Championship. She was named Horizon League Player of the Year for the second-straight season and garnered her third All-Horizon League honor.

The Green Bay men’s tennis team fell to No. 13 Notre Dame in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament. The Phoenix finished their impressive season with an 18-8 overall record and went undefeated in conference play. The Detroit women’s golf team closed out its season at the NCAA West Regional hosted by Washington at the Par 72, 6,252-yard Tumble Creek Course at Suncadia Resort in Cle Elum, Washington. The squad finished 24th overall and posted a score of 979 to mark the second lowest regional score in school history.
