INDIANAPOLIS -- Green Bay senior Michael Tenzer (Neuried, Germany) is the Men’s Tennis Player of the Week while Cleveland State junior Lauren Golick (Westlake, Ohio) is the Women’s Tennis Player of the Week for the week of Sept. 23-29.

Tenzer competed at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association All-American Championships this past weekend in Tulsa, Okla. The senior began the pre-qualifying singles draw bracket defeating Indiana’s Elliot Yee in straight-sets (6-3,6-3) In his subsequent match, the senior faced Adam Glynn of Fresno State and won in three-sets (6-1, 4-6, 6-4). To advance to the qualifying draw of the Championships, Tenzer picked up a straight-set victory over Ohio State’s Mikael Torpegaard (7-6, 6-4). Tenzer became the first Phoenix player in program history to advance out of the pre-qualifying stage of the Championship.

In the first round of the qualifying draw, Tenzer fell to Oklahoma State’s Arjun Kadhe in three-sets, 2-6, 7-6, 6-4. With his first round loss, he continues play in the qualifying singles consolation bracket of the tournament beginning today.

The Cleveland State women’s tennis team had an impressive outing at the West Virginia Invitational this past weekend. The squad faced teams from Buffalo, Indiana University of Pennsylvania and the host Mountaineers over the three days of competition. Golick led the Vikings at No. 1 singles and paired up with teammate Princess Gbadamosi at No. 2 doubles.

At No. 1 singles, Golick defeated Buffalo’s Tanja Stojanovska in straight-sets 6-3, 6-0 on Friday followed by another set-sweep against IUP’s Sophie Butland 6-1, 6-1 on Saturday. The sophomore remained undefeated on the closing day of the Invitational with a 6-2, 6-0 victory over West Virginia’s Kaja Mrgole.

With Gbadamosi, the duo defeated a tandem from IUP, 6-3, on Friday. On Saturday, they fell to a doubles pair from Buffalo, 6-3, but bounced back to collect a win against West Virginia’s No. 2 team, 6-3.

Cleveland State is back on the court on Friday, October 10th when the team travels to the Buffalo Invitational. The Phoenix men’s team returns to action on Thursday, October 16th in Ann Arbor, Mich. for the ITA Midwest Regionals.

Top Men’s Tennis Players of the Week:
Manuel Bellutti, Cleveland State (Sr.): Went 3-0 in singles to capture the Flight E title and went 2-1 in Flight B doubles with Joe VanMeter.

Top Women’s Tennis Players of the Week:
Bianca Zuzu, UIC (Fr.): Went 3-2 in singles this past weekend with wins against players from Michigan State, Western Michigan and Eastern Michigan. Also went 2-2 in doubles with teammate Oana Manole.
