INDIANAPOLIS -- Cleveland State University senior Beth Greulich has been named Horizon League Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week, while Valparaiso University freshman Taylor Root has earned Defensive Player of the Week honors for the period of Oct. 5-11.

Greulich, a right-side hitter from Troy, Ohio, earns the honor for a second time this season and the sixth time in her career. She recorded 50 kills (5.00 kps), 54.5 points (5.45 pps) and a .462 attack percentage (50 K, 8 E, 91 TA) for the Vikings last week.

Greulich helped Cleveland State go 3-0 in League play last week with victories over Youngstown State, the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay.

Root, a libero from Jenison, Mich., earns the award for the first time in her career. She turned in a conference-best 90 digs (6.00 dps) for the Crusaders last week, including a three-set school-record 31 on Tuesday.

Root helped Valparaiso go 4-0 in League matches last week with wins over Green Bay, Milwaukee, Loyola University Chicago and the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Cleveland State (17-5, 7-1) returns to action on Tuesday when it travels to Bowling Green State University at 7 p.m. ET, while Valparaiso (13-6, 7-1) is back in action on Wednesday when it hosts Indiana State University at 8 p.m.
