INDIANAPOLIS -- Cleveland State University senior Beth Greulich has been named Horizon League Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week, while Valparaiso University freshman Taylor Root has earned Defensive Player of the Week honors for the period of Oct. 19-25.

Greulich, a right-side hitter from Troy, Ohio, earns the honor for a third time this season and the seventh time in her career. She became just the second player in school history to eclipse 1,200 kills and 350 blocks in a career while hitting a sizzling .420 (35 K, 6 E, 69 TA) for the Vikings last week.

Greulich helped Cleveland State extend its match winning streak to 11 with a pair of Horizon League victories. CSU knocked off second-place Valparaiso in four sets on Friday and blanked third-place Butler University on Saturday.

Root, a libero from Jenison, Mich., earns the award for the second time in her career after collecting a conference-best 55 digs (5.50 dps) for the Crusaders last week.

Root helped Valparaiso, which has won nine of its last 10 matches, sweep Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis in non-conference action on Tuesday and Wright State University in League play on Saturday.

Cleveland State (22-5, 10-1) and Valparaiso (17-7, 9-2) return to the hardwood on Friday. The Vikings head to Loyola University Chicago at 8 p.m. ET, while the Crusaders visit Butler at 7 p.m.
