CHICAGO - Loyola University Chicago senior Jacqueline Grim (Beecher, Ill./Beecher) has been selected as the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) National Player of the Week it was announced today. The slugging first baseman is the first Rambler ever to earn the honor.

Last week, Grim had one of the more remarkable weekends in Loyola softball history as the Ramblers swept a three-game series from Horizon League rival Youngstown State, March 26-27.

Grim batted 1.000 (5 for 5) with a double, two home runs and four RBI, while scoring five runs and drawing a pair of walks in three games at Youngstown State. Despite those impressive numbers, two others that stand out as even more startling were her 1.000 on-base percentage and 2.400 slugging percentage for the weekend.

In game one of a doubleheader at Youngstown State on March 26, Grim doubled, homered, walked, and drove in a pair of runs to help Loyola to a 4-2 victory, then scored two more runs, walked twice, and circled the bases in a 10-1 win in the nightcap. She closed out her perfect weekend with two singles and a pair of walks in a 6-2 win at Youngstown State on March 27.

After not hitting a home run in either of her first two seasons on the Loyola roster, Grim has walloped nine roundtrippers since the outset of the 2010 campaign. She leads Loyola with a .364 (12 for 33) batting average, four home runs, a .500 on-base percentage and a .758 slugging percentage this spring.

Loyola, which is 11-9 overall and 3-0 in the Horizon League, plays a doubleheader at Big Ten Conference rival Wisconsin on Thursday, March 31.
