INDIANAPOLIS -- University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee senior Josh Groves and University of Illinois at Chicago senior Derrick Miramontes have been named Horizon League Baseball Players of the Week for the period of March 23-29.

A native of Monona, Wis., Groves picks up Batter of the Week accolades after going 6-for-11 with one double, two runs and two RBI in three games last week. He also stole two bases for the Panthers.

The catcher has now hit safely in 13 of his last 14 contests, batting .489 (23-for-47) during the stretch.

Through 19 games in 2009, Groves leads Milwaukee in batting average (.404), hits (23) and on-base percentage (.485).

Milwaukee fell to 5-15 on the season by dropping two of three conference tilts to Valparaiso University last week.

A native of Durham, Calif., Miramontes notches Pitcher of the Week honors after recording two wins and a save in three relief appearances last week. He allowed no walks and just two hits while striking out six in five scoreless innings for the Flames.

The right-hander preserved UIC's win over the University of Missouri with a two-inning save on Tuesday and recorded both wins in a three-game conference set against Youngstown State University.

Miramontes owns a 4-0 record, one save and a 1.96 ERA in 10 appearances this season. He has scattered 13 hits in 18.1 innings and allowed just one walk while fanning 13.

UIC improved to 9-13 on the campaign with a 4-1 week. The Flames defeated Missouri on Tuesday and swept a three-game series from Youngstown State over the weekend.

Milwaukee returns to action on Wednesday when it hosts Northern Illinois University at 4:05 p.m. ET. UIC is back on the diamond Wednesday when it hosts Bradley University at 7:05 p.m.
