INDIANAPOLIS -- University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee freshman Sarah Hagen has been named the Horizon League's Women's Soccer Player of the Week for the period of Aug. 18-24.
Hagen scored two goals in her collegiate debut on Friday evening -- a 3-0 victory over Big Ten foe and in-state rival Wisconsin. The Appleton, Wis., native became just the second freshman in school history to register two goals in a season opener.
Hagen also collected a match-high seven shots on Friday night as the Panthers tallied a 20-11 advantage over the Badgers in that department.
Milwaukee (1-0), ranked No. 1 in the Horizon League preseason coaches' poll, is searching for its ninth straight regular-season title in women's soccer. The Panthers return to action on Wednesday with an 8 p.m. ET match against Ohio State.
