INDIANAPOLIS – University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee junior Sarah Hagen (Appleton, Wis./North) has been named Horizon League Women’s Soccer Player of the Week, for the week beginning Sept. 13. Hagen, the 2009 Horizon League Player of the Year, scored goals in each of the Panthers’ road wins over Kansas and Missouri.
At Kansas, Hagen netted the lone goal in the match, striking from 25 yards out in the 96th minute of the match. The goal was the third of the year for Hagan and the 12th game-winner of her career, breaking the UWM record.
Two days later at Missouri, Hagen struck again, scoring the go-ahead goal just 3:12 into the second half of Wisconsin-Milwaukee’s 3-2 win over the two-time Big XII defending champion Tigers.
With the two wins, Milwaukee moved into a tie atop the Horizon League standings with 14 points and a 4-3-2 record.
The Panthers open Horizon League play on Friday, when they hit the road for matches in the Buckeye State. Milwaukee will meet Youngstown State at 7 p.m. on the 24th before a match with Cleveland State on Sunday, Sept. 26, at 12 p.m. ET. The Panthers and Vikings can be seen on the Horizon League Network.
