INDIANAPOLIS – University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee junior Sarah Hagen (Appleton, Wis.) has been named Horizon League Women’s Soccer Player of the Week, for the week beginning Sept. 20. It is the second straight week Hagen has been so honored by the conference.
At Youngstown State on Friday, Hagen scored both of the Panthers’ goals in 2-0 victory; after being taken down in the box while on the attack, the junior converted the penalty kick to give Milwaukee an early lead. In the 59th minute, Hagen converted a header under the crossbar for her sixth goal of the season.
Hagen picked up her seventh goal of the season on Sunday at Cleveland State, the Appleton, Wis.-native struck from five yards out in the 13th minute of Milwaukee’s 3-0 victory. Her 15th shot of the weekend caromed off the far post in the 88th minute, but the rebound was converted for the Panthers’ final goal, giving Hagen seven points on the weekend.
With seven goals, Hagen is tied for the Horizon League lead, while her 18 points pace the conference.
Entering the week, Milwaukee was fifth in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/HendrickCars.com Great Lakes Region poll.
The Panthers will continue their seven-match road trip on Friday, Oct. 1, when they meet the University of Texas in a non-conference clash. The match will begin from Austin, Texas, at 8 p.m. ET.
