INDIANAPOLIS --UIC junior Natalie Hernandez (Glendora, Calif.) has been named the Horizon League Player of the Week while Flames senior Devin Miller (Chicago, Ill.) and Wright State junior Krystian DeWitt split Pitchers of the Week honors.

It is the first award of the season for all three student-athletes.

Hernandez went 2-for-4 in UIC's lone game last week as all four Horizon League-opening weekend series were postponed due to unfavorable weather forecasts and poor playing conditions. In the 1-0 loss in extra innings, Hernandez recorded her second triple of the season.

In that same game, Miller allowed just one earned run in 8.0 innings of work, recording four strikeouts while posting a .179 batting average against and a 0.88 earned run average.

Also in a loss, DeWitt game up two runs -- one earned -- in 7.0 innings of work while posting a 1.00 ERA and a .167 BAA. The junior right-hander allowed just four hits and issued no walks while recording an impressive 11 strikeouts.

Assuming the weather takes a favorable turn, Hernandez and Miller will return to action on Wednesday when the Flames visit Purdue before hosting in-city rival Loyola this weekend. DeWitt and the Raiders are scheduled to host Cleveland State this weekend.
