Cincinnati Christian 61, Wright State 85

A 27-11 second quarter broke the game open and behind double-doubles from Chelsea Welch and Symone Simmons, the Wright State women's basketball team defeated Cincinnati Christian 85-61 in the opening game of the Wright State Invitational Presented by Holiday Inn Thursday at WSU's Nutter Center.

Cincinnati Christian scored the opening basket of the game and the Eagles hung close throughout the first quarter, trailing by just one before a Myrthe den Heeten layup in the final minute put the Raiders up 15-12.

Wisconsin 54, Green Bay 53

GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – The Green Bay women’s basketball team was handed its first home loss of the season at the hands of in-state rival Wisconsin this evening, 54-53. The Phoenix shot a season-low 31.1% from the field and was unable to overcome the size of the Badgers.

Green Bay appeared to be taking over as the opening half came to a close, as the Phoenix rattled off a 10-2 run to lead things 25-19. Wisconsin battled back in the third quarter, however, outscoring Green Bay 18-11 to take a one-point lead into the final quarter of play.
