The Horizon League announced its broadcasts plans Tuesday (Feb. 14) for the 2006 men's and women's basketball championships with all 16 games -- eight men's and eight women's -- to be aired live via national cable television, free video web casts or regional syndication.

Four of the games will be broadcast on the ESPN networks, including the men's championship (Tuesday, March 7, 9 p.m ET) on ESPN plus the two men's semifinals (Saturday, March 4, 4:30 and 7 p.m ET) and women's championship (Monday, March 6, 4 p.m. ET) on ESPNU.

The 12 other games will be web cast live for free on the Horizon League's official web site at www.horizonleague.org as the League is doing for more than 135 regular-season men's and women's basketball games. All broadcasts will feature a minimum three-camera shoot and audio play-by-play.

In addition to the web casts, the women's semifinals (Sunday, March 3, 1 and 3:30 p.m. ET) will be syndicated and broadcast regionally on the Ohio News Network throughout Ohio, Comcast Local in Michigan, Comcast Indianapolis, WMLW-TV 41 in Milwaukee, and WACY-TV 32 in Green Bay, Wis. Check your local listings for details. The games will be produced by Kansas City, Mo.-based Metro Sports, whose feed will be used for the web casts.

Available video for every men's and women's tournament game is a first in the Horizon League's 27-year history.

"We are excited to make every tournament game available for the first time in League history," said Commissioner Jonathan B. LeCrone. "Having four games on national television on the ESPN networks is a big step forward, and with the addition of our free, live web casts, fans and alumni will be able to follow their teams as they advance through the championship."
