University of Wisconsin-Green Bay sophomore Tim Prudlow and University of Detroit Mercy freshman Annie Moore were named Horizon League Tennis Athletes of the Year, the League office announced Friday (April 21) at the pre-championship banquet.

Prudlow finished the regular season with an 11-16 overall record at No. 1 singles, leading the Phoenix to a No. 3 seed in the championship. He compiled a 4-1 League record, notching keys wins over fellow First Team All-League selections Brandon Gill of Butler University, Ivan Kovalev of University of Illinois at Chicago and Lance Koetter of Wright State University.

Also named to the All-Horizon League First Team were Butler senior James Low and Cleveland State University junior Olivier Dhaine.

For the second straight year, the Horizon League Men's Tennis Newcomer of the Year honors have been claimed by Wright State, with freshman Nicolas Camilleri earning the 2006 award after posting a 4-1 record in League singles and going a perfect 4-0 at doubles.  Camilleri, the Horizon League Athlete of the Week for March 29, also earned Second Team All-League recognition. Joining Camilleri on the Second Team unit are Butler's Andy Bartish and Parker Ross, Green Bay's Mark Goldin, Youngstown State University's Scott Kathary, UIC's Paul Glendenning and Cleveland State's Jay Tee.

Cleveland State sophomore Brad Groleski earned the inaugural Herb Foster Sportsmanship Award, given in honor of the late Wright State head coach, who led the Raiders from 1996-2004. Groleski worked his way up to the number three spot in the Viking lineup after suffering two wrist surgeries and missing almost a year of competition.

Jason Suscha of Butler was named Coach of the Year for the fifth consecutive year. This season, he led the Bulldogs to a 12-9 record, including a 5-0 mark in League competition. The Bulldogs are in search of their fifth straight championship title, which would also mark their eighth in nine years.

On the women's side, Moore excelled at No. 1 singles, earning both the Athlete of the Year and Newcomer of the Year awards. Moore compiled a 24-11 ledger, setting a Detroit rookie record for victories.  She also notched six wins in League play, earning each in straight sets.

Moore is joined on the All-Horizon League First Team by Butler's Tayo Bailey, UIC's Callan Smith and Iris Jaklin, Wright State's Tiffani Foster and Cleveland State's Sarah Galon.  Galon, the 2005 Horizon League Athlete of the Year, also earned the Herb Foster Sportsmanship Award in recognition of her conduct both on and off the court.

Alaina Griffin and Michelle Hawes of Butler, Wright State's Jessica Lee, Gina Peretti of Youngstown State, UIC's Molly Smith and Cleveland State's Morgan Ungerott were named the Second Team All-League.

UIC head coach Shannon Tully was named Horizon League Women's Tennis Coach of the Year for the third time in the past four season.  The fifth-year coach has guided the Flames to an overall record of 10-10 and a League mark of 7-0. UIC will be in search of its tenth consecutive Horizon League title and its eighth straight trip to the NCAA Tournament.

The 2006 Horizon League Men's & Women's Tennis Championships begin Saturday, April 22 at 9 a.m. and contine through Sunday afternoon at North Central High School in Indianapolis.
