NILES, Ohio - The University of Wisconsin Milwaukee (25-35) defeated the University of Illinois at Chicago (33-20) 7-2 in game 11 of the Horizon League Baseball Championship presented by the U.S. Army. The final game of the League championship will be played at 12 p.m. on Sunday. On the line will be an automatic bid to the 2008 NCAA Baseball Championship.

Milwaukee starter Ben McClarey pitched a complete-game five hitter to pick up his third win of the season. The senior lefty allowed just one earned run and struck out four.

UIC senior right-hander Grant Kohlstaedt took the loss and fell to 4-4 on the year. Kohlstaedt went 6.2 innings, gave up 12 hits and allowed seven earned runs.

Offensively for the Panthers, senior Jesse Hart continued his hot streak as he went 3-for-5 with a home run, three RBIs and two runs scored. In four tournament games, Hart has gone 14-for-29 with two home runs and 13 runs batted in.

As a team, UWM out hit the Flames 13-6 which marked the 13th consecutive game that Panthers have posted 10 hits or more.

The Panthers win over the Flames also puts an end to UIC's nine-game winning streak which began back on May 9.

The 2008 Horizon League Baseball Championship is being held at Eastwood Field in Niles, Ohio. Single-day tickets are $6 for adults and $4 for senior citizens and youth, while all-tournament passes are $20 and $14, respectively. Students from all Horizon League institutions are free with a valid student identification card. Gates will open one hour prior to the first game each day.
