INDIANAPOLIS – Andrew Kendrick hit five home runs and drove in 11 runs for Youngstown State during the opening weekend of the 2017 baseball season and has been named Horizon League Batter of the Week. Danny Sexton of Wright State is the Pitcher of the Week after earning a win, striking out seven and allowing just one run in 6.2 innings at No. 10 Clemson.
BATTER OF THE WEEK | Andrew Kendrick, Youngstown State
Kendrick hit five home runs and had 11 RBIs in YSU’s three games at a tournament hosted by Austin Peay this weekend. He hit a solo home run in the season opener against Austin Peay, and he followed that up with two homers - a solo shot and a three-run home run - against Indiana State on Saturday. He concluded the week by hitting a grand slam and a solo home run as part of a six RBI day against Illinois State. He drove in 11 of the 13 runs that YSU scored over the weekend, and he already has more home runs in three games than he did all of last season (four).

PITCHER OF THE WEEK | Danny Sexton, Wright State
Sexton scattered four hits and struck out seven for Wright State in the series finale at No. 10 Clemson, earning his first win of the season. The left-hander allowed just one earned run and kept Tigers batter off-balance in the series-clinching win for the Raiders. Sexton worked 6.2 innings in WSU’s 13th win over a ranked program since the start of the 2007 season. It marks the first time the Raiders have won two games over a ranked program in a series since taking the final two of a three-game series at #18 Mississippi February 24 and 25, 2007.
