INDIANAPOLIS – UIC senior Connor Ryan earned a win and a save in the Flames’ series win at No. 7 Vanderbilt and has been named Horizon League Pitcher of the Week. Youngstown State’s Andrew Kendrick is the Batter of the Week after hitting .500, driving in four and scoring four more against No. 17 Georgia Tech.

BATTER OF THE WEEK | Andrew Kendrick | Youngstown State | Junior | First Baseman | Springfield, Mo.
Kendrick hit .500 with five hits in 10 at bats at No. 17 Georgia Tech. He added three walks and an HBP for a .600 on-base percentage, and he slugged .900. Kendrick drove in four runs, scored four times and hit his sixth home run of the season. Hit his sixth home run of the season on Sunday while going 3-for-4 with three runs scored and three RBIs in YSU’s 12-3 win. Went 1-for-3 in each of the first two games of the series… Scored in the opener on Friday, and doubled and drove in a run on Saturday

PITCHER OF THE WEEK | Connor Ryan | UIC | Senior | RHP | Homer Glen, Ill.
Connor Ryan came out of the bullpen and picked up a win and a save as UIC went on the road and won a series at No. 7 Vanderbilt. In the series opener on Friday night, the senior threw 2.1 scoreless innings with four strikeouts as he picked up his first win of the season.

After the Flames took the lead in the top of the 10th, Ryan fanned Vanderbilt’s three, four, and five hitters in succession to finish the game.
On Sunday, Ryan entered the contest in the bottom of the 11th. He struck out the No. 3 and No. 4 batters in the lineup to begin the frame before getting a fly ball out to nail down his first save of the season, and the first of his career.
