INDIANAPOLIS – Lorenzo Arcuri of Youngstown State hit four home runs, including three in one game, and led the league in slugging, runs, hits and runs batted in and home runs last week to earn Horizon League Batter of the Week honors. UIC left-hander Jake Dahlberg is this week’s Pitcher of the Week after allowing just one hit while striking out six against Chicago State.

BATTER OF THE WEEK | Lorenzo Arcuri, Youngstown State
Arcuri blasted four home runs, including three in one game against Morehead State, and led the league last week in slugging, runs, runs batted in and home runs, while tying for the lead in hits. He hit .412 with a 1.118 slugging percentage, six runs, four home runs and nine RBI during the week.

Arcuri tied a school records with three home runs and 13 total bases against Morehead State – first Penguin with both since 2008. He went 4-for-5 with four runs scored and five RBIs against the Eagles and added another home run in the series opener at Richmond. The senior outfielder finished the week with a go-ahead two-run single in the ninth inning at Richmond on Sunday.

PITCHER OF THE WEEK | Jake Dahlberg, UIC
Jake Dahlberg took the ball in UIC’s home opener on March 9 and the senior was nearly untouchable against Chicago State. He threw 6.0 scoreless innings and surrendered just one hit and three baserunners, only one of which reached second base.

Dahlberg struck out six and got nine ground-ball outs as he tallied his first win of the season. He notched his 15th win as a UIC Flame. He is tied for ninth all-time with Bob Villasenor. Don Kinnunen in next on the list with 17. The lefty lowered his earned-run average by nearly a half point Thursday, going from 2.08 at the start of the day, to 1.54 at the end of his outing. The opponent's batting average dipped from .203 to .171 and his K/BB ratio rose from 2.4 to 2.6.
