INDIANAPOLIS – Northern Kentucky’s Jake Richmond has been named Horizon League Batter of the Week after leading all league players in home runs, slugging and total bases while leading the Norse to a series sweep of Milwaukee to open conference play. Zane Collins of Wright State earns Pitcher of the Week honors after striking out nine in six innings of work during a shutout of Valparaiso.
BATTER OF THE WEEK | JAKE RICHMOND, NORTHERN KENTUCKY
Richmond batted .500 as the Norse swept Milwaukee in a three-game series. The junior went 7-for-14 at the plate with two homeruns, six RBI and four runs scored. Richmond posted a .929 slugging percentage, a .533 on-base percentage, was 2-for-2 in stolen base attempts and never struck out.
He had at least two hits in each of the three games and posted a pair of multi-RBI showings. Richmond also drove in the game-winning run in a 6-5 win over the Panthers in the series finale.

PITCHER OF THE WEEK | ZANE COLLINS, WRIGHT STATE
Collins was dominant Sunday against Valparaiso, striking out nine in six innings of work to pick up his second win of the season. He scattered four singles, walked none and did not allow a run in the conference tilt.
The left-hander from West Mansfield, Ohio, has 31 strikeouts in 29.1 innings of work and has combined for two shutouts this season.
This is Collins’ second Pitcher of the Week honor of the season (March 6).
