Horizon League Baseball Players of the Week (May 22)

INDIANAPOLIS – Wright State freshman Ryan Weiss has been named Horizon League Pitcher of the Week after limiting UIC to three hits while striking out five. Oakland’s Ryan Fitzgerald is the Batter of the Week after batting .500 with a home run and two doubles and leading all league players in runs, while tying for the weekly best in runs and doubles.

BATTER OF THE WEEK | RYAN FITZGERALD | OAKLAND | SOPHOMORE | OF | MOUNT VERNON, OHIO
Fitzgerald hit .500 (6-for-12) scoring seven runs, hitting two doubles, one home run and five RBIs with a slugging percentage of .917 during the final weekend of the Horizon League regular season. He also was a perfect 3-for-3 in stolen bases last weekend against Northern Kentucky. Fitzgerald posted an on-base percentage of .600, adding a walk and was twice hit by a pitch to his six hits.

Weiss earned his seventh win of the season Friday against UIC, tossing six inning and allowing just three hits while striking out five. The freshman’s performance led the Raiders to a 3-2 victory which set up a winner-take-all season finale for the Horizon League regular season title.
