Horizon League Baseball Players of the Week (May 8)

INDIANAPOLIS – Oakland sophomore Conor Bowers allowed just one hit in eight innings and struck out eight to earn Horizon League Pitcher of the Week honors. Milwaukee’s Mike Jordahl is this week’s Batter of the Week after batting a .526 with 11 runs batted in and two three-hit games.

Jordahl had a strong week at the plate, helping UWM to a 3-2 (3-1 HL play) record with a .526 batting average. He collected 10 hits in 19 at bats, driving in 11 runs with an .842 slugging percentage, He also scored 4 runs and posted a .609 on-base percentage. Jordahl started the week with a 4-RBI outing at Illinois State and capped it with a 3-hit/4-RBI contest to help the Panthers to the twinbill sweep of the Norse.

Bowers tossed 8.0 strong innings, allowing just one hit and recorded a career-high eight strikeouts in a 7-0 shutout win over Valparaiso in game two of the doubleheader May 7. Bowers (1-3) did not allow a hit through 7.0 innings, but Valpo's Giovanni Garbella led off the eighth inning with a single through the left side to break up the no-hit bid.
