INDIANAPOLIS – No. 13/11 Green Bay received a No. 5 seed and will face Arkansas-Little Rock in the 2011 NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament, the NCAA announced.Green Bay received an automatic bid into the tournament after winning the Horizon League championship on Sunday, defeating Butler 74-63.

 The Phoenix (31-1) will face No. 12 Arkansas-Little Rock in the first round on Sunday, March 20, in Wichita, Kansas as part of the Dallas region.

Green Bay is making its 12th trip to the NCAA Tournament and third under fourth year head coach Matt Bollant.   In 2010, the Phoenix became the first Horizon League women’s basketball team to receive an at-large bid into the tournament.  The winner of Green Bay and Arkansas-Little Rock will face the winner of No. 4 Michigan State and No. 13 UNI in the second round.

The second and third round games in Wichita feed into the Dallas regional, which will take place on March 27-29.  The Final Four will be held April 3-5 at Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Ind.

Butler, which finished runner-up in the Horizon League tournament, will spend its postseason in the WNIT for the third straight year.

The Bulldogs will travel to Wisconsin for the first round of the tournament.

Wright State and Cleveland State will represent the Horizon League in the WBI.   

The Raiders (19-12) will play in their first-ever Division I postseason game as they host Buffalo at 7pm ET on Wednesday in the opening round of the Women’s Basketball Invitational (WBI).

The game will also be the first collegiate postseason event held at Wright State’s Nutter Center as the Raiders took the No. 1 seed in the East region.

The Wright State/Buffalo winner will face the winner of Sacred Heart and Manhattan in the quarterfinals with the date and site to be determined.

The Vikings earned the No. 1 seed in the West region and will play at eight-seeded IPFW on Wednesday at 7:30pm ET at Gates Sports Center.

This marks the second consecutive season that CSU has played in the post-season after going to the NCAA Tournament in 2010.

A victory against IPFW would advance the Vikings to a second round contest against the winner of No. 4 Eastern Illinois and No. 5 Chicago State.
