Horizon League Golfers of the Week (April 5)

INDIANPOLIS – Valparaiso’s Peter Webb took medalist honors at the Hoosier Invitational, finishing three strokes better than the field at 7-under and posted a 65 during the first round to earn this week’s Horizon League Men’s Golfer of the Week honors. Kylee Sullivan captured her second tournament title for Oakland at the Fort Wayne Spring Classic and is this week’s Horizon League Women’s Golfer of the Week.

Webb won an event for the first time in his Crusader career, taking medalist honors at the Hoosier Invitational, which took place on Saturday and Sunday. He posted a 206 (-7), three strokes ahead of the nearest competitor in a 78-player field. He became the first Crusader to take medalist honors since September 2014.

His 206 set a career watermark and matched a 54-hole program record. Webb led the event in Par 4 scoring at 3.79 and in birdies with 17. He had posted a 65 in Round 1 of the event, matching the program record and establishing a career best for single-round scoring.

Webb followed by turning in another impressive performance at the Wright State Invitational on Monday and Tuesday, tying for third at 212 (-1).

Sullivan became the third player in Oakland history to win multiple tournament titles in a season and the first since 2003 by capturing the Fort Wayne Spring Classic title April 2-3 at Pine Valley Country Club.

She shot a career-low 222 (+9), which is the second-lowest 54-hole tournament score in school history. She also shot a 36-hole career-low score of 147 (+5) during day one of the tournament.

Sullivan won her first individual tournament title earlier this season at the Golden Grizzlies Invitational Sept. 26-27.
