INDIANAPOLIS – Four Horizon League student-athletes finished their outdoor track seasons at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Drake Stadium in Des Moines, Iowa.  Butler senior Kris Gauson and sophomore Kirsty Legg both competed in the 1500 meter run, Wright State junior Cassandra Lloyd participated in the 100 meter hurdles, and Milwaukee sophomore Samia Taylor contended in the triple jump.

Gauson has posted some of the nation’s best times in the 1500 meter run, including a 3:40.59 at the Mt. Sac Relays in April, but did not finish in the men’s 1500 on Thursday.   Legg placed 17th in the women’s 1500 meter, clocking a 4:23.81 for the Bulldogs.

Lloyd placed fourth in her heat and finished 14th overall in the hurdles on Thursday with a time of 13.33, and was selected as a Second-Team All-American by the U.S. Track and Field Coaches Association.  The top two finishers in each heat along with the next two best times qualified for Saturday’s final.

Taylor leapt 40-11 in the triple jump on Friday, taking ninth in her heat and 18th overall.  She was just 4 ¼ inches away from earning All-America Second Team Honors for a top 16 finish, but did receive All-American Honorable Mention honors, the first triple jump All-American for Milwaukee and first for her team.
