KENT, Ohio - The Milwaukee's men's track and field team totaled 176 points and claimed its fifth-consecutive Horizon League championships title on Sunday at the Kent State University Field House. On the women's side, Youngstown State took home the team title for the first time since 2005 with 170 points.

The Youngstown State men and Milwaukee women finished runner-up with 104.50 and 159 points, respectively.

Butler junior distance runner Andy Baker and Wright State sophomore sprinter Tiffany Brigham took home the League's Outstanding Runner Awards. The Outstanding Field Performer Awards were given to Youngstown State senior thrower Bethany Anderson and Valparaiso senior thrower Steve Bartholomew.

Youngstown State freshman sprinter Breanne Romeo and Detroit freshman sprinter Earnest Cleary each received the Newcomer of the Year Awards for the running events, while YSU's freshmen thrower Danielle Curry and sprinter Jerrill Hall received the Newcomer of the Year Awards for the field events.

Youngstown State's Brian Gorby and Milwaukee's Pete Corfeld received as the Men's and Women's Coach of the Year Awards, respectively.

Milwaukee sophomore sprinter Tyler Bucholz led the way for the Panther men as he won three individual events and anchored one first-place relay team. Bucholz began the day by winning the 60-meter dash in a time of 7.06 seconds, edging out Cleary, who took second, by two one-hundreds of a second. Bucholz would then go to win the 200 (21.82) and 400-meter (47.61) dash events. The UWM sprinter's time in the event stands as a meet record.

Bucholz concluded the day by running the anchor leg of the winning 4x400-meter relay team. UWM's 4x400-meter relay team broke the championship record in the event. The previous meet record was held by

In the women's sprint events, Brigham won two events. Brigham began the day by winning the 60-meter dash (7.78) and then returned to claim the 200-meter dash (25.09) title.

In the distance events, Baker won his second and third individual titles as he won the mile (4:14.15) and 3,000-meter events (8:30.59). On Saturday, Baker won the 5,000-meter run and ran the anchor leg of Butler's distance medley relay team.

Butler senior Genni Gardner defended her 2007 League title in the mile and broke the championships record in the event by clocking a time of 4:55.81. Gardner surpassed the previous mark held by former Butler runner Mary Reeves (4:56.45, 2000).

In the field events, UWM's Quinn Mongoven defended his 2007 men's high jump crown with a leap of 2.03m (6 feet, 8 inches).
