INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Valparaiso senior thrower Steve Bartholomew and Milwaukee junior jumper Beth Zimmerman were selected Horizon League men's and women's track Athletes of the Week for the second time this season based on their performances this past weekend.

Male Athlete of the Week
Steve Bartholomew
Valparaiso
Sr., Valparaiso, Ind.
Bartholomew earned his second Athlete of the Week honor after he won the weight throw this past Friday at the UWM Panther Tune Up. The Valpo senior won the event with a toss of 63 feet, 4 inches, which broke school and UWM Fieldhouse records. In 2007-08, the Indiana native has won the weight throw five times. Bartholomew's performance was also just eight inches shy of provisionally qualifying for the NCAA Championships.

Female Athlete of the Week
Beth Zimmerman
Milwaukee
Jr., Waterford, Wis.
Zimmerman collected her second Athlete of the Week award following a performance which saw her post a pair of victories in the long jump and triple jump at the UWM Panther Tune Up. In addition, Zimmerman's winning performances in the long jump (19 feet, 5.5 inches) and triple jump (39 feet, 9.75 inches) were the top marks in the League this season.

Adam Mayhew
Detroit
Jr., Richland, Mich.
Mayhew led the way for the Titans at the Silverston Invitational last Saturday as he took third in the shot put with a personal best toss of 48 feet, 1.75 inches, which moved him to fifth on the all-time school list. Mayhew also placed eighth in the weight throw with a mark of 49-7.

Anthony Wile
Loyola
Fr., Beverly Hills, Mich.
Wile led the way for the Ramblers at the UWM Panther Tune Up as he won the 3,000-meter run with a personal-best time of 8:56.38 last Friday.

Adam Schleis
Milwaukee
Jr., Germantown, Wis.
Schleis won two events, taking top honors in both the long jump and 60-meter hurdles at the UWM Panther Tune Up last Friday. In the long jump, the UWM junior broke the school record with a leap of 23 feet, 10.75 inches. Schleis also ran a time of 8.27 seconds in the 60m hurdles.

Joseph Mbari
UIC
Sr., Gatukuyu, Kenya
Mbari took home top honors in the one-mile run, posting a career-best finish of 4:18.70 at the UWM Panther Tune Up on Friday evening. His performance moved him into fifth place among League leaders.

R.D. Goodright
Youngstown State
Sr., Wooster, Ohio
Goodright posted a personal-best time of 1:53.09 in the 800-meter run to finished second at the Kent State Tune Up on Saturday. The YSU senior has the League's top time in the event this year.

Other Women's Top Performers for the Week
Brittany Horne
Detroit
Jr., Okemos, Mich.
Horne was the top Titan performer on the day as she finished with a pair of second-place finishes at the Silverston Invitational this past Saturday. Horne was second in the weight throw with a heave of 51 feet, 5.75 inches, which was just three feet shy of first-place. She then came back with a second-place effort in the shot put with a mark of 42 feet, 11.75 inches, which set a personal record and was the fifth-best toss in Titan history.

Pam Stanton
Loyola
Jr., Ingelside, Ill.
Staton won the 800-meter run as she posted a time of 2:17.61 at the UWM Panther Tune Up last Friday. The Illinois native also finished second in the mile run, recording a personal-best time of 5:05.80.

Monique Bostert
UIC
So., Glendale Heights, Ill.
Bostert garnered her third career-best performance of the year in the weight throw with a heave of 53 feet at the UWM Panther-Tune Up last Friday. Her performance set the school indoor record and moved her into fourth place among League leaders this year.

Emilie Marsicek
Valparaiso
Sr., Spalding, Mich.
Marsicek won the shot put with a toss of 43 feet, 8.50 inches and took second in the weight throw with a mark of 48-7.50 this past Friday at the UWM Panther Tune Up. The Michigan native's performance in the weight throw was the second-best toss in Valpo history.

Katie Betts
Youngstown State
Jr., Cortland, Ohio
Betts placed second in the 200-meter dash with a season-best time of 25.30 at the Kent State Tune-Up this past Saturday. Betts' time ranks her second among League individuals in 2008.
