Horizon League Men's Basketball Player of the Week (Nov. 28)

INDIANAPOLIS – Alec Peters of Valparaiso and Isaiah Brock of Oakland have been named Horizon League Player and Freshman of the Week, respectively. Peters led the Crusaders to an unbeaten week and averaged 24.3 points and 10 rebounds per game in wins over Alabama, BYU and Ball State. Brock posted a pair of double-doubles during his first three collegiate starts, helping the Golden Grizzlies to a pair of wins at the Great Alaska Shootout.

Player of the Week – Alec Peters, Valparaiso (Sr., F, Washington, Ill.)
Peters notched a pair of double-doubles and paced Valpo (6-1) to three nonconference wins last week, including victories against Alabama and BYU at the Men Who Speak Up Main Event in Las Vegas. The forward from Washington, Ill., opened the week with a 24-point, 10-rebound outing against Alabama and followed with a 26-point, 12-rebound game against BYU in the tournament final.

The senior was named MVP in Las Vegas and averaged 24.3 points and 10 rebounds per game last week. Peters also connected on 29-of-31 free throws and has scored at least 20 points in all seven Valpo games to date.

This is his first Horizon League Player of the Week honor of the season and sixth of his career.

Freshman of the Week – Isaiah Brock, Oakland (F, Baltimore)
Brock impressed during his first career start, recording a 10-point, 11-rebound double-double against Nevada at the Great Alaska Shootout. The newcomer from Baltimore closed the tournament with 10 points and 10 rebounds in the Golden Grizzlies’ (6-1) win against UC Davis. For the week, Brock averaged 7.3 points and 7.3 rebounds per game, shot 69.2 percent from the field and recorded five blocks and five steals.

This is the first Horizon League Freshman of the Week award for Brock.
