Lindsay Martin, who has spent the past nine months as the full-time communications intern at the Horizon League' office, has been named the League's new Administrative Assistant for External Affairs, Commissioner Jonathan B. LeCrone has announced.


In her new role, Martin will perform administrative duties related to men's basketball scheduling, officiating and the Horizon League tournament; serve as a liaison with the League's marketing directors and Nelligan Sports Marketing; and assist with sponsorship fulfillment, office management and championships administration.


As the communications intern, Martin served as the primary information contact for volleyball, swimming and diving, track and field and tennis. She also served on the media services staff for the 2006 NCAA Men's Final Four in Indianapolis.


"We are pleased to be able to promote Lindsay to this position," said LeCrone. "She proved to be a valuable member of the staff as an intern this past year, and she will do a great job in her new role as we serve our member institutions."


Martin earned a bachelor's degree in journalism from Butler University in 2005 with minors in Spanish and anthropology. As an undergraduate, she wrote for Butler's Dawgnet online newspaper and performed internships with the Indianapolis Ice minor league hockey team, the USA Gymnastics national headquarters and Indianapolis Downtown, Inc. She also has served as a media services volunteer at the 2005 Solheim Cup international women's golf tournament, the 2005 Big Ten Conference Women's Basketball Championship, the 2006 Big Ten Men's Basketball Championship and the 2004 FINA World Swimming Championships in Indianapolis.


A native of Farmersville, Ill., she resides in Indianapolis.
