INDIANAPOLIS - Detroit sophomore Vushaun Landrum, Valparaiso junior Jarrett Mickens, Wright State sophomore Cassandra Lloyd, and Detroit senior Brittany Horne have been named Horizon League Track and Field Athletes of the Week for the period of March 29-April 4.
Landrum, a native of Windsor, ON., receives the men's track honor after finishing fourth in the 100 (10.85) and 200 meter (21.65) on Saturday at the Oliver Nikoloff Invitational in Cincinnati, Ohio. His time is a new personal best.
Mickens, a native of Aurora, Ill., picks up the men's field award after winning the triple jump (13.40 meters) and placing fourth in the long jump (6.34 meters) on Saturday at the DePauw Invitational in Greencastle, Ind.
Lloyd, a native of Springfield, Ohio, garners the women's track honor after winning the 100 meter hurdles (13.59) and finishing second in the 100 meter (12.10) on Saturday at the Oliver Nikoloff Invite. She also helped the 4x100 relay team to a fourth place finish (48.59).
Horne, a native of Okemos, Mich., collects the women's field award after winning the hammer throw (57.70 meters), placing fourth in the discus throw (42.82 meters) and seventh in shot put (13.18) on Saturday at the Oliver Nikoloff invitational. Horne's hammer throw broke the school record by just over 3 meters.
Detroit returns to action on Saturday when it heads to Lewisburg, Ky., for the Bison Outdoor Classic, while Valparaiso and Wright State head to Oxford, Ohio for the Miami Invitational.
