INDIANAPOLIS --- The Horizon League Network -- www.horizonleaguenetwork.tv -- will provide free live streaming video of Saturday's final two games of the 2008 Horizon League Softball Championship from Loyola Softball Park in Chicago, the League office announced Wednesday (May 7).
Saturday's first game on the Horizon League Network will be the consolation bracket final at 3 p.m. EDT, with the winner advancing to the championship game at 5 p.m. EDT against the tournament's lone remaining undefeated team. If the team from the consolation bracket wins that game, a second, winner-take-all game will be played Sunday at 10 a.m. EDT on HLN.
Tim Calderwood will provide the play-by-play, with the participating teams' softball sports information contacts providing color commentary.
The 2008 Horizon League Softball Championship will begin Thursday with six games, starting at 10 a.m. EDT. Cleveland State University is the number-one seed after winning its first League regular-season title with a split of Sunday's doubleheader against League newcomer Valparaiso University. The Crusaders earned the number-two seed in their first season of League play, while defending champion Wright State University is the number-three seed and tournament host Loyola University Chicago the number-four seed.
The tournament includes all nine League softball-playing schools in a double-elimination format. The winner earns the League's automatic bid to the NCAA Division I Softball Championship.
