KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Detroit sophomore guard Ray McCallum headlined a quintet of Horizon League men's basketball players who earned National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) All-District 14 honors, the organization announced on Thursday. McCallum was the lone Horizon League player on the first team, while Valparaiso's Ryan Broekhoff and Kevin Van Wijk, along with Alec Brown of Green Bay and Youngstown State's Kendrick Perry represented the League on the second team.

The group of five also made up the All-Horizon League First Team, as voted upon by the conference's coaches, sports information directors and media. The quintet is the youngest first team in Horizon League history.

McCallum led Detroit to its first NCAA Tournament appearance since 1999, collecting Horizon League Championship MVP honors after averaging 20.0 ppg in the tournament. On the year, the sophomore is averaging 15.5 points per game to go along with 4.5 rebounds and 3.9 assists.

Joining McCallum on the first team were Reggie Hamilton (Oakland), Dominique Morrison (Oral Roberts), Nate Wolters (South Dakota State) and Alex Young (IUPUI).

Broekhoff collected Horizon League Player of the Year accolades in his junior year, helping lead Valparaiso to the NIT, where the Crusaders will take on Miami on Thursday night. With 12 double-doubles, Broekhoff leads the Horizon League, as does his 8.6 rpg. At 14.8 ppg, the Austrailian also ranks in the top 10 in the League.

Van Wijk paces the conference in field goal percentage, hitting on 62.5 percent of his attempts, the fifth-best mark nationally. The Dutchman ranks just behind his teammate Broekhoff with a 14.4 ppg average.

Brown built on a solid freshman campaign, leading Green Bay in points, rebounds and blocked shots, averaging 13.8 points, 8.2 rebounds and a school-record 3.0 blocks per game.

Perry led the League in overall (16.8 ppg) and league-only (16.8 ppg) scoring. He also became just the fifth player in league history to lead the circuit in scoring and steals (2.4 spg) in conference play while becoming the first Youngstown State player to earn first-team all-conference laurels since Quin Humphrey in 2006-07 and 2005-06.
