INDIANAPOLIS -- Continuing as a pioneer in the streaming of live sporting events, the Horizon League, in partnership with WebStream Productions, has announced that “Horizon League Network Live,” the conference’s newest mobile application, is now available in the iTunes App Store. The Horizon League is the only NCAA Division I athletics conference in the country to offer its entire live video collection via a mobile application.

For a one-time fee of just $1.99, the app can be downloaded to any iOS smart phone or tablet, with Android availability coming soon. The app allows fans to watch any game carried live on the Horizon League Network along with on-demand features and highlights during the 2011-12 athletics season. Eighteen of the 20 Horizon League basketball programs will have non-conference home games available, while all Horizon League conference basketball games will be carried live both on HLN Live and HorizonLeague.com.

“When we started the Horizon League Network six years ago, we were committed to distributing TV-quality Horizon League games across a variety of content platforms, further expanding our reach,” said Commissioner Jon LeCrone. “ The Horizon League Network Live app is an extension of that commitment, allowing our fans to watch their favorite teams and games on hand help devices.”

The Horizon League Network has long been a pioneer in online streaming of live events. In its first five years, HLN has carried more than 2,000 live events with TV-quality production, attracting viewership from more than 140 countries.

“We’re excited to launch this innovative application. Reaching Horizon League fans on every possible screen has long been a goal of WebStream Productions and the League,” said WebStream Productions President & CEO John Servizzi. “There’s a lot of talk right now about digital networks in college athletics. I believe this app is a testament to the Horizon League’s continued innovation and commitment to its fans. Not only is the Horizon League Network the original digital network, it remains the best.”

In 2010-11, HLN and HorizonLeague.com experienced unprecedented growth as more than 300,000 unique visitors across 149 countries/territories watched HLN coverage.  Through the League’s partnership with WebStream Productions, HorizonLeague.com integrated both HorizonLeagueNetwork.tv and HorizonLeague.org, leading to record visitors on the new site.

HLN Live will take that same quality to handheld devices, further extending the League’s global reach. Not only will fans be able to watch live video of men’s and women’s basketball, swimming and diving, baseball, softball and more, on-demand content will also allow those who miss a game to watch highlights at a later time. All 15 remaining conference championships will have live and/or on-demand content.

The app is available in the iTunes App Store by clicking here and will be available in the Android Marketplace in the coming weeks.
