Horizon League Softball Players of the Week (April 3)

INDIANAPOLIS -- Youngstown State's Tatum Christy earned Player of the Week after batting 8-11 with seven runs batted in, and UIC's Karissa Frazier has been named Pitcher of the Week after picking up a win and a save for the Flames on the week.

Tatum Christy / Youngstown State / Freshman / Infielder / New Franklin, Ohio

Christy had a huge week for Youngstown State after tallying eight hits and two walks in 13 plate appearances. After limited at-bats against Robert Morris in which the freshman recorded a hit, a walk and a hit by pitch, Christy shined in the three game series versus Valparaiso. The infielder was a double away from the cycle recording a hit in all four at-bats against the Crusaders knocking in four runners along the way. The New Franklin, Ohio, native finished off the week with a 3-4 batting performance with two RBI and a run scored.

For the week, Christy batted .727, knocked in seven runners, and scored four runs on the week to help Youngstown State pick up three wins on the week and earn her first Player of the Week honor on the season.

Karissa Frazier / UIC / Sophomore / Pitcher / Temecula, Calif.

Frazier pitched in three of UIC's four games on the week, and helped UIC improve to a league-leading 5-1 record in conference play. The sophomore gave up one earned run in four innings of work against crosstown foe, Northwestern in the no-decision. Two days later the right-handed thrower entered UIC's game versus Detroit Mercy in relief duty and recorded the six-out save, striking out half of the batters she faced. Frazier ended the week tossing a complete game against the Titans while not allowing an earned run to pick up her sixth win on the season.

This is Frazier's first Pitcher of the Week honor on the year and the third in her career.
